Well, the Apple Let's Rock event has come and gone. The highlights were basically on the iPod and iTunes but an announcement was made about a new iPhone update as well.
The iPod Nano is now slimmer and offers "Genius" functionality that allows you to create a playlist on the fly, based upon the current song you are listening to. Want to
shuffle up your songs? Simply shake your Nano to activate the shuffle mode. Nice! With no shortage of "new" features, the iPod Nano comes in a wide range of nanochromatic colors as well. The 8GB should be available in the next couple of days with the 16GB model being released this weekend.
One announcement that I was looking forward to was the iPhone 2.1 software upgrade which is apparently right around the corner. It is expected to be released Friday and "...fixes lots of bugs. Fewer dropped calls, big battery life improvements. No crashes with Apps. Backing up is faster." All I can say is, "I'll see about that!". And honestly, I hope it does fix the issues because I'm about to pay AT&T the $175 early termination fee so I can get out of this God-awful contract.
Last but not least, iTunes has had a makeover with the release of iTunes 8. It will offer the usual but will be adding HDTV shows to it's line up. The HDTV episodes will sell for $2.99 while the SD episodes will go for $1.99, which is a good deal for those that don't mind paying for a TV Show.
All in all nothing real surprising, as many of the rumors circulating all ready predicted this stuff. I'm hoping that they slip in an updated MacBook later this week, as they've been known to do in the past.

Obviously I don't know how it
Obviously I don't know how it works yet really, but it seems like if you had the Nano in your pocket you would be unintentionally activating shuffle mode with every step, especially if you're running.
Same thought
You know I actually had the same thought as you. Especially for those that want to run with it. I'm not sure but it seems like you'd have to be able to turn this off. But if that's the case, then it's a wasted feature b/c I'm too lazy to turn to switch it on or off base on what i'm doing at the time being.
Definitely a good point though.
