Drupal 6.2 Update and Views 2 Install

Drupal 6 ReleaseWell I just happened to stop by Drupal |dot| org today and noticed that Drupal 6.2 has been released. It doesn't contain any new features, as all new features will be poured into the much anticipated D7, but it fixed a couple of small contextual errors as well as some security holes. While I was reading over these updates, I figured I'd check on the status of Views 2. I've been wanting to install this module as it allows for greater control of the content I can pull in and display it the way I WANT TO. Well it is still in Alpha. Alpha 4 to be exact. But I decided to take the plunge!

The install, as with most modules was pretty much effortless. I backed up my site database (which I was long over due on doing), uploaded the module, flipped it on, and voilà! If you had visited my site since bringing D6 online, you probably noticed that my front page and blog page were displaying the same things. Well, that's because they were. After adjusting to, and figuring out Views 2, I set up a new blog page, which now displays my last 5 blog entries instead of just 2. On the front page, I also got rid of the pager since I only want 2 blog entries to be displayed. All other entries will just reside in the blogs section. Although I did a quick fix and just hid it with CSS, but I'll go back in later and just remove the pager from a custom .tpl.php file later.

If you have any questions about Views 2, whether setting it up or using it, feel free to post any comments and I'll see if I can't help you out.

Still taggin',
Cory
