Migration to Drupal 6...near completion

Drupal 6 ReleaseWell, the migration to Drupal 6 (D6) is complete. I've decided to leave corydorning.net v1.5 behind and start from scratch. As some of you may have noticed, the "New site coming in January 2008" announcement date passed without a new site being deployed. I developed a new site design and was ready to start slicing and dicing it, when I decided I wanted to give Drupal 6 a look.

At the time just a release candidate (RC) was available so I stuck with the v1.5 a bit longer. Then once the official release came out, I still had a couple of road blocks. Views 2 and the Content Construction Kit (CCK) weren't complete and I was weary of running a site without these two options. Without them, it makes the creation of custom content types and informational views, more complicated to implement. In late February I realized there was a lot I wanted to do, so I would go ahead and just move forward and use D6 regardless. I decided to go it alone (without Views and CCK).

After getting it up and running, I quickly realized that theming a D6 site was quite different from a Drupal 5.x (D5) site. Thanks to the Drupal community and Joon (dvessel), the D6 theme guide came to my rescue. While all the bugs are not completely worked out here at corydorning |dot| net and while there is still a lack of content, the process of getting moving on into what I like to call version 2 |point| 1 (version 2|point|0 is too cliché) is underway.

If I get time, I may post screens of the design I decided to scrap. If interested, shoot me an email and I'll send 'em to you.

Stay Tuned!

Lookin' good

The site is looking good Cory. I can't wait until you completely finish it so we can get out of this house! ha-ha.

Love your wife,

Not bad for a Web Dev...

Nice

I like the site. Keep it coming. I hear you about the Xavier fans (except I root for them). Not over UK obviously! But i deal with the same type of UC fans here at my place of employment! Just tell your co-workers that Xavier got beat by Tennessee this year, and UK beat Tenn. Thats all the argument you need. Keep up the good work.

And, get your wife outta the house????
