Well it's here. We are literally 38 minutes from the first tip of the 2008 NCAA Tournament, as I'm typing these words. Make that 37. Living in Northern Kentucky and working in Cincinnati, OH, I am currently having to hear all these Xavier (X) fans going on and on about how "great" they are. There is no denying they have had one of their best years ever but all the "Johnny-Come-Lately's" are all in my ear about how great X is and how they would roll Kentucky (UK).
How am I supposed to argue this point? Should I use the "most wins all-time of any college basketball team", "highest total winning percentage of all-time", "second behind only UCLA in championships" or a number of other stats I could roll off my tongue? Actually, I'm not going to use any of them. Why, you ask? Because it's time to dance and the present is all that matters.
It's time to lace 'em up and win or go home! I'm going out on a limb and predicting that the UK Wildcats will advance further than the Musketeers! I'll even go a step further and say that Xavier will lose today to Georgia!
Whaddaya think about that X fans?
All in all, my final four is UNC, Kansas, Texas and UCLA with UNC beating UCLA in the championship game.
Here's to hoping I don't have to delete this blog entry tomorrow morning. Then again, I could always fall back on one of my "most wins all-time of any college basketball team", "highest total winning percentage of all-time", "second behind only UCLA in championships"...excuses.
